Illustration of the King Island emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae minor, here as Dromaius peroni), an extinct subspecies of emu that was endemic to King Island, in the Bass Strait between mainland Australia and Tasmania. Its closest relative may be the extinct Tasmanian emu.
