Recurrent herpes on the hand of a 26 year old Hispanic female. Blistering caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection. The blisters are teeming with virus particles and therefore extremely infectious. This infection can be caused by exposure to either HSV-1 (oral herpes) or HSV-2 (genital herpes) and is usually acquired through a break in the skin. Treatment is with antiviral drugs.
