Herpes infection on the buttocks of a 64 year old Hispanic female. Blistering caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection. The blisters are teeming with virus particles and therefore extremely infectious. This infection is caused by exposure to HSV-2 (genital herpes) and is usually acquired through a break in the skin. Treatment is with antiviral drugs.
