The cerebrum contains the structures responsible for conscious thought, speech and other higher functions. Below the cerebral hemispheres, at the back of the brain, is the smaller cerebellum. This controls motor control and movement learning, as well as other less well_understood functions. The brain is connected to the rest of the body throught the brainstem, in front of the cerebellum, which is continuous with the spinal cord.
