Herbig-Haro object 34. Hubble Space Telescope (HST) view of Herbig-Haro object, a cloud of gas and dust formed when jets of gas ejected from young stars collide with nearby clouds of gas and dust at very high speeds. They are relatively short lived, lasting only a few thousand years. This clip shows the evolution over time of Herbig-Haro object HH 34, a jet expelled from a newborn star in the southern constellation of Orion. It was created using observations of HH 34 made in 1994, 1998 and 2007.
