Editorial Ukraine. Ostroh Castle. The defensive enclosure was designed in the fourteenth century replacing the old fortress, destroyed by the Mongolian Tartars in 1241. It was the residence of the princes of Ostroh. Engraving by Cholet, ca. 1840. Later colouration.
