Metal reactivity, Photo 1 of 2. Zinc-coated (galvanized) nail (Photo 1) and iron nail (Photo 2) are placed in test tubes containing saturated citric acid, H3C6H5O7. Zinc reacts more vigorously than iron, both producing hydrogen bubbles: Zn + H3C6H5O7 -> Zn3(C6H5O7)2 + H2 and Fe + H3C6H5O7 -> Fe3(C6H5O7)2 + H2. These are examples of a single displacement reaction.
