Hugh Despenser, 1st Lord Despenser (c1286-1326), sometimes referred to as The Young Despenser. As a supporter of Edward II, he attempted to enlist the common people on the side of the King, and generally made himself unpopular, eventually becoming a pirate in the English Channel. He was caught by followers of Queen Isabella and horribly executed for treason and theft.
