Flashlight fish (Photoblepharon steinitzi) A nocturnal predator, the lanternfish generally spends the day hiding in deep caves and rocky crevices. At night, however, they return to shallower areas to hunt. It can therefore be observed in the 50-30 m depth zone. Its bioluminescence makes it an unusual fish to observe in total darkness. Mayotte
